Radiofrequency Microneedling Q&A

What is radiofrequency microneedling?

Radiofrequency microneedling, or RF microneedling, is a cosmetic procedure that uses fractional radiofrequency energy and tiny needles to puncture the skin in targeted areas to increase collagen and elastin production. Doing so helps you achieve tighter, more toned, rejuvenated skin over time.

What can radiofrequency microneedling do?

The team of aesthetic specialists at Marina Medispa use radiofrequency microneedling for the following:

  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • New collagen and elastin induction
  • Improved skin texture
  • Reduced large pores
  • Hyaluronic acid production boost
  • Diminished acne and surgical scars
  • Skin tightening and firming
  • Reduced stretch marks
  • Skin texture resurfacing
  • Cellulite reduction

RF microneedling is a nearly painless procedure without surgery or downtime that helps you achieve younger-looking, flawless skin without cosmetic surgery.

What should I expect during radiofrequency microneedling?

Prior to RF microneedling treatment, our specialist reviews your medical history and examines your skin to determine if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. You might have to avoid alcohol, certain medications, or skin care products for a period of time before treatment.

Our specialist uses a topical numbing cream to make RF microneedling feel comfortable. She applies a hand-held microneedling device to your skin to create tiny microtears in it and emits radiofrequency energy to gently heat the skin and stimulate collagen production. The procedure might take about an hour or so, depending on the areas treated.

What happens after the procedure?

Following radiofrequency microneedling, you might experience redness, swelling, and mild bruising at the treatment area, but downtime is minimal. You can use ice if you’d like to reduce swelling. Any redness should subside within about 24 hours, and you can resume your normal daily routine the next day.

Our specialists might recommend a series of two to four treatments spaced several weeks apart to help you achieve optimal skin revitalization. You notice improvements in the condition of your skin within three to six months after the first RF microneedling treatment with continuous improvements appearing over time.

Don’t let the signs of aging and other skin imperfections ruin your self-confidence when noninvasive treatments are available. Schedule an appointment over the phone or online with Marina Medispa to find out if radiofrequency microneedling is right for you.
